Security cameras, wifi or wired?

At present, we can say that all cctv security cameras are IP (wireless analog cameras existed in the market for years, but currently it is a completely obsolete system), but NOT all IP cameras are wireless.

The IP cctv security cameras can be wireless and connect to a PC, Tablet or Smartphone via Wi-Fi but they can also be wired and use the network cable of the computer installation to transmit the image (as if they were data).

On this occasion, we will talk about the cameras with wireless connection, pros and cons and for what type of facilities are indicated.

Are your works safe from employee ant thefts?

Advantages of wireless security cameras

Cost savings in installation: when operating via wireless connection, the cost savings in wiring and channeling is very high (provided they have access to a power point).
Easy and clean installation: they can be installed quickly and easily without the need for work.
Flexibility in the location: not needing cable, they can be installed very easily where desired and if once installed, they must be moved to another location, it can be done quickly and easily, just move the camera to another space with coverage Wifi
Because the suppression of the system as well as its installation are very simple we can use it in an eventual way, that is, we can use them only at certain times of the year, at certain times of the day, or depending on external conditions
Less manipulable and more detectable faults. Cable cuts or other manipulations in a complex video cctv systems can be a real headache to repair it. In a wireless video surveillance system we will only have two elements, transmitter and receiver, therefore, we will quickly locate the possible problems.

Do you want to know how to choose the best recording solution?

Disadvantages of wireless security cameras

Vulnerable to sabotage: wireless surveillance cameras can be sabotaged very easily, a frequency inhibitor would be enough to disable the signal, just as with non-wired intrusion systems.
Interference and connectivity problems: wireless cameras may have interference and coverage problems, interrupting the video signal or preventing it from arriving clearly

     and sharpness
They do not allow great customization: as a rule, wireless cameras do not allow customization of optics with different ranges and depths.
Power problems: wireless cameras are called that because they can transmit the signal without the need for a cable, but they do need a power cable. If it works with rechargeable batteries, its autonomy is very limited.

At this point, we can say that knowing our security needs well in addition to the balance between the advantages and disadvantages that gives us in our case in particular a wired (analog) or a wireless (ip) system, will be essential when to choose one or the other for our home or business.
